Northumberland Beaches

With the beach just a short drive away, a visit to the sandy shores of Northumberland is a must during your stay at Riverside Leisure Park. We’ve highlighted our top beach spots nearby for you to enjoy during your Northumberland holidays.

Bamburgh Beach

One of the most easily accessible beaches during a stay at Riverside is Bamburgh. Voted the best beach in Northumberland, Bamburgh is known for its landmark coastal castle. Once a Norman stronghold, the castle sits above the sand dunes and offers breathtaking views out to sea and the Farne islands.

Seahouses

Just down the road from Bamburgh lies Seahouses. This seaside town makes for the ideal location to enjoy some traditional fish and chips by the coast. You will also find a number of great tour operators offering to take you out to sea if you have your sea legs on. There’s a rocky shore perfect for exploring, and should walking be your thing, there’s a great coastal walk between Bamburgh and Seahouses that offers fantastic views.

Berwick Beach

A trip to one of the most famous border towns between England and Scotland is needed during your stay. The market town has been fought over many times, giving it a great history. The beach at Berwick Upon Tweed marks the start of the Berwickshire Coastal Path and is the ideal spot to enjoy a spot of sea fishing or a leisurely stroll.

Embleton Bay

Moving south you can enjoy a long stretch of golden sand at Embleton Beach. Voted BBC Countryfile’s best UK beach in 2017, this beach is a favourite for many. Overlooked by the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, it sits within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and you can take in an abundance of wildlife, as the beach is a known breeding site for seabirds such as Fulmars, Kittiwake and more.
