Health, Safety & Environment Advisor - North

Location: Head Office, 10 Mannin Way, Caton Road, Lancaster, LA1 3SW

Salary:  £35,000-£40,000 (dependent upon experience)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: The core hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, however some flexibility with working hours

to ensure deadlines are met is required.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

Our HSE Advisor will be responsible for developing and leading the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, managing the relevant policies, procedures and staff training, and advising on statutory compliance for operational activities. He/she will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and optimising operational processes for environmental management, health protection and occupational safety across the company and will work closely with teams on park to provide technical expertise and mentoring.

Some examples of the day-to day duties are:

  • Provide first point of contact and support for all health, safety and environmental matters
  • Develop, implement and review the Group EHS and ESG framework, standards, policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Support the parks in measuring and monitoring performance against Group and Park EHS and ESG Plans.
  • Carry out site inspections and provide advice and support to managers where corrective actions are needed.
  • Promptly investigate, in conjunction with the responsible managers, all health, safety and environmental incidents as required.
  • Produce reports for the Board of Directors on health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Assist managers with carrying out risk assessments across all areas of the organisation and carry out risk assessments in certain areas as appropriate.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for someone who has demonstrable experience in the management of Health, Safety and Environmental practices across a multi-site organisation. You will need to have excellent IT skills and the ability to problem solve and manage a variety of different issues simultaneously. A valid UK driving licence and own transport is essential as the position involves travel between our park locations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience in Health, Safety and Environmental practices/management
  • Experience of accident/incident investigations and inspections
  • Experience delivering appropriate HS&E training
  • Ability to analyse data and produce concise written reports in plain language
  • Ability to establish good working relationships both internally and externally
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate and membership of IOSH or IIRSM
