Typical Duties & Responsibilities

We’re looking for a forward-thinking individual to supervise, motivate and drive our Grounds & Site Maintenance Team to deliver excellence. As well as overseeing and allocating work to the team and ensuring deadlines are met, there is an element of project management within this role, as we are constantly improving and developing the park and facilities. We would expect the person in this role to use their own initiative to identify areas for improvement, draw up suggestions and ideas, and then, with the agreement of the General Manager, implement and monitor solutions.

Some examples of the day-to-day duties are:

  • Supervise the work of the team, delegating tasks promptly and ensuring that work is completed safely, timely and to a consistently high standard.
  • Supervise and take part in the safe siting, including plumbing and connections, of any caravan or lodge.
  • Ensure the completion of works on time and within budget.
  • Ensure the site team have the correct skills and knowledge for the assigned tasks. Providing in-house training or identifying appropriate external training as needed.
  • Take responsibility for all machinery and equipment ensuring that they are maintained, serviced, and kept safe and secure.
  • Maintain, develop and landscape all grounds, including grass, hedges, play areas, woodland, gardens, pitches.

Skills & Experience Required

You will need to be organised, pro-active and a problem solver. Previous work in the holiday park or caravan industry is essential as we need someone with experience siting caravans and driving tractors. In order to succeed in this role you will need a good working knowledge of relevant health & safety requirements, general maintenance, repair and ground care skills, and the ability to prioritise and adapt in a changing and challenging environment. Above all, you will need to have the right attitude. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and so we expect you to do everything in your power to make their Verdant experience the absolute best it could possibly be. We don’t believe in ‘that’s not my job’ so you will need to be adaptable and flexible to help the wider park team meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current driving licence with the ability to drive tractors and mowing machines.
  • Previous experience supervising a site team on a caravan park (or similar).
  • Good general maintenance, repair and ground care skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining various tools and machinery.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and organise work effectively.
