Typical Duties & Responsibilities

Our Leisure & Activities Team Leaders are responsible for leading by example to motivate and coach the team to deliver an outstanding guest experience, whilst ensuring all Health & Safety checks are carried out daily. This role is key to ensuring that we can provide the quality facilities that our guests expect, so they can relax and have fun in a safe well-maintained environment.

Some examples of the day-to day duties are:

  • Role model effective leadership behaviours and our vision and values at all times
  • Support team through induction including completion of mandatory safe and secure training
  • Monitor daily team performance and provide additional coaching as needed in relation to behaviours and role specific techniques
  • Manage, organise, control and efficiently supervise the Lifeguard and Activities team on a daily basis ensuring fair breaks and pool rotations run like clockwork.
  • Complete daily critical tasks including safety compliance checks and legislative compliance checks.
  • Take responsibility for conducting and checking all routine Health and Safety Inspections ready for safe operation.
  • Confidently deal with guest concerns and resolve problems with empathy and understanding.
  • React to Guest Feedback and work with the team to respond quickly to address areas for improvement
  • Actively drive activity and bar sales and coach your team to do so

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for someone with experience as a lifeguard and/or an activities instructor. Previous experience in a similar supervisory role is essential. A DBS criminal records check is essential as this role involves supervising children. You will need to be enthusiastic, friendly and able to work unsupervised. Above all, you will need to have the right attitude. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and so we expect you to do everything in your power to make their Verdant experience the absolute best it could possibly be. We don’t believe in ‘that’s not my job’ so you will need to be adaptable and flexible to help the wider team meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current NPLQ (or similar) qualification with recent experience as a Lifeguard is desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar supervisory role
  • The ability to lead and coach a team to achieve standards and goals
  • Relevant training such as Pool Plant, NPMQ, First Aid at Work and RLSS Trainer Assessor are highly desirable
  • A current DBS is desirable but not essential as the company will process
  • A friendly and flexible attitude with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations which occur
