It’s our 11th birthday!
This is the perfect opportunity to look back on the last 11 years of Verdant Leisure…
In 2010, we bought Pease Bay and Thurston Manor Leisure Parks. Pease Bay in Cockburnspath is set on the Berwickshire coast, with the beach right on your doorstep. It’s perfect for family holidays building sandcastles, and dogs love a runabout on the sand.
Thurston Manor in East Lothian is a beautiful countryside park under an hour from Edinburgh, on an estate once visited by kings. Just a short drive to the beach, Thurston Manor offers the best of both worlds with its wonderful woodland setting.
In 2011, Viewfield Manor joined the Verdant family. Based in the Ayrshire countryside, Viewfield Manor is under half an hour from Glasgow and offers fantastic facilities including bar and restaurant, gym and indoor heating swimming pool.
We also acquired Riverside in 2011. Set in the heart of the Northumberland countryside, on the edge of the Wooler Water, Riverside is just a stone’s throw from the Northumberland National Park. It’s also not far from plenty of beaches and historical attractions including Alnwick Castle, the original Hogwarts location!
Our resident mascot, Vinnie the fox joined us in 2012. He can be found causing mischief on the parks and keeping the little ones entertained! We also launched a group website this year, as well as Riverside winning The Best Relax and Explore Park in the North of England!
2013 saw the launch of Viva for a happier, healthier you at our parks with leisure facilities. Then in 2014 we continued to grow with investments in facilities and pitch developments across the parks. We also raised over £9,000 for charity.
In 2015 we launched our Verdant Life newsletter to keep our owners up to date with news from across all the parks. We raised over £13,000 for charity too!
Heather View and Kingfisher joined Verdant Leisure in 2016 and we opened our Head Office in Lancaster. Based in the stunning Durham Dales, Heather View and Kingfisher are just 5 miles apart and both boast 5 star ratings from Visit England.
During 2017 we purchased Coldingham Bay in Berwickshire. Just a short walk to Coldingham Bay beach, the park is ideal for watersports lovers. Violet, another park mascot and best friend to Vinnie also joined the team this year. Look out for her on your next staycation and make sure you say ‘hello’!
Located in the same village as Coldingham Bay, Scoutscroft Leisure Park joined Verdant Leisure in 2018. Boasting fantastic facilities including Mini Golf and a Fish & Chip shop, Scoutscroft is well worth a visit.
In 2019, Queensberry Bay in Dumfriesshire joined Verdant Leisure. Based right on the beach overlooking the Solway Firth, Queensberry Bay is an idyllic seaside retreat. With brand new facilities for 2021, The Sandpiper Café Bar is the perfect addition to sit back and relax with a meal and drinks whilst taking in the view.
Erigmore in Perthshire is our newest park, just an hour from both Glasgow and Edinburgh. It’s the perfect escape from city life, based on the River Tay with woodland walks on your doorstep.
A little nostalgia never hurt anyone. As we celebrate our 11th birthday, all of us at Verdant Leisure are thankful for the years spent working on our parks and hope there are many more to come.
