Dog-Friendly Beaches in
the UK
Enjoying the sun, sea and sand with your four-legged friend
Most of us enjoy the feeling of sand beneath our feet, and that’s true for the four-legged friends in our families too. What could be better for your pet than a long run on the beach, chasing the waves and playing fetch with the water? That’s why we’ve outlined our favourite dog-friendly beaches in the UK below.
South East Scotland
There are a huge variety of beaches close to our four parks in South East Scotland, including Pease Bay which can be accessed directly from any holiday home on our Park of the same name!
Pease Bay is a beautiful location with cliffs surrounding the sand, and a passage leading to Cove’s secret beach! With the park directly on the bay, there are facilities a plenty, including an area to sit with your pet and enjoy the gorgeous food that the Smuggler’s Bay offers, a shop and play area.
Coldingham Bay and Scoutscroft are both within walking distance of the stunning Coldingham Sands too! This beautiful beach with its beach huts and beachside café is like something out of a postcard and recently retained its Scottish Beach Award from Keep Scotland Beautiful!
Thurston Manor is in the East Lothian countryside, but offers sea views from parts of the park! Within a 30 minute drive, you will find amazing beaches including Whitesands, Dunbar, Yellowcraigs. The nearby John Muir Country park boasts amazing walking routes for dogs with access to both woodland and beach – what more could you want?
South West Scotland
Viewfield Manor is nestled in the Ayrshire countryside, just a 20-minute drive to the beach. The closest beach to the park is Irvine beach with breathtaking views out to the Isle of Arran. The beach is bordered by the Irvine beach park, which is part of Stage 8 of the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
Nearby Saltcoats also provides a great beach for those with dogs throughout the year. The beach joins the towns of Saltcoats and Ardrossan and there are plenty of areas to sit back and enjoy the view, with many cafes and play areas for the family to enjoy.
North East England
Riverside Leisure park is nestled in the foot of the Northumberland National Park, just a short distance from the Northumberland coast. Within 20 minutes you can enjoy the coast in the most northern town in England, Berwick Upon Tweed. This picturesque beach features pier complete with lighthouse and the town is an ideal place for history buffs due to its role in English and Scottish history. Your pooch will love chasing the waves and splashing in the mouth of one of England’s most famous rivers, the River Tweed.
Looking for something a little less tourist lead? Nearby Goswick beach is a hidden gem of a beach just a few miles from Riverside. With miles of sandy beach to run down and an incredible view of Holy Island, it’s the ideal place for a run around for you and your dog!
Another amazing location close by is the beach and harbour of nearby Bamburgh and Seahouses! These towns are a hit with tourists due to the impressive Bamburgh castle that overshadows Bamburgh beach! The harbour at Seahouses is the ideal place for a lunch of fish and chips during your walk along the Northumberland coastal path which links the two towns.
Is the countryside more of your pooch’s thing? No fear, our holiday parks in the Durham Dales are ideal for those who prefer to stay a little more inland! Heather View is ideal for those looking for a breakaway and Kingfisher, our owner’s only park offers the ideal countryside retreat for you and your pooch to return to whenever you want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
South England
Golden Coast Leisure Park is nestled in glorious North Devon, a spectacular coastline home to some of the best beaches in Europe. Woolacombe Beach is an award-winning beach and welcomes tourists from all over the country. This stunning beach allows dogs year round, with just a few restrictions in the summer months.
