We’re supporting Dementia UK as our Charity of the Year 2020!

We're pleased to announce we will support Dementia UK as our 2020 Charity of the Year.

To find our new Charity of the Year, we called upon holiday home owners, holiday guests and employees to nominate a charity. Five of the nominated charities were shortlisted with the winner decided by a Facebook poll and an internal poll for staff and holiday home owners.  The overall winner, Dementia UK is the only national charity caring for families through dementia specialist Admiral Nurses.

When things get challenging or difficult for families, Admiral Nurses work with them, understanding their unique situation and providing strategies to help them cope. The Nurses work across a range of care settings within the community, care homes, hospitals and hospices. Some Nurses also work on Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline – the only nurse-led helpline in the country which is available to anyone with any questions or concerns around dementia.

The support of Dementia UK follows our successful 2018 and 2019 fundraising campaign for Teenage Cancer Trust. Our employees, holiday home owners and holiday guests jumped from planes, hosted family fun days and even shaved their hair to raise an astonishing £76,000 for the charity.

Our Communications Director, Stacey Hope said, “When we started Verdant Leisure’s Charity of the Year, we could have never imagined the life-changing totals we would raise. Everyone at Verdant Leisure is delighted to be supporting a new charity and all are eager to raise funds for such a worthy cause!”

Dr. Hilda Hayo, CEO and Chief Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK, said: “We are really excited to hear that we have been chosen to be the 2020 Charity of the Year for Verdant Leisure. Their support will allow more families to access the vital support of our Admiral Nurses.”

“Everyone at Verdant Leisure strives to deliver an amazing experience for our guests everyday, and this simply wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of our team. We offer opportunities for training and development to anyone who wants to learn and love to see our team members flourish and progress.”
