The best strawberry fields in the UK
09/07/2025
There’s something undeniably nostalgic about strawberry picking. Whether it’s the joy of finding the ripest fruit, the peacefulness of being out in the countryside, or simply the sweet reward at the end, it’s a quintessential summer activity that appeals to all ages.
With farms across the UK opening their fields to visitors during the warmer months, it’s the perfect way to slow down, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy a day out with family or friends.
To help you make the most of strawberry season, we’ve rounded up some of the best pick-your-own farms across the UK that are ideal for everything from relaxed countryside dates to energetic days out with the kids.
The Best Strawberry Fields In The UK
To find out which strawberry fields are the best in the UK, and see which region could be crowned as the champion of pick-your-own strawberries, we began by sourcing strawberry picking farms from Google Maps, focusing on those with publicly available information to ensure consistency and quality. Farms that lacked sufficient details, such as reviews or online presence, were excluded from consideration. Each remaining farm was given a relative score, calculated by combining the number of Google reviews and Instagram followers, then dividing that total by 1,000. This score helped us evaluate popularity and visibility. Finally, farms were ranked from highest to lowest, with the top spot awarded to the farm with the strongest overall presence.

Best Regions In The UK For PYO Strawberry Fields
Top 3 Regions For Quality
Some parts of the UK stand out for both the quality and variety of pick-your-own strawberry farms. The North East tops the list with the highest average index score (22.2), followed by the North West (14.8) and the South East (13.1).
It’s worth noting that the North East’s average is based on a single standout farm (Brocksbushes), which ranked highly for both popularity and visitor experience. While other regions feature a wider selection of farms, their averages are often brought down by greater variation in individual scores. This makes the North East’s top ranking asterisked*, but still notable.

Methodology
To create our ranking, we first sourced the list of relevant strawberry fields from Google Maps. Farms that did not have enough publicly available information required for the index study were not included.
A relative score was then assigned to each farm, including a sum of Instagram followers and reviews / 1000. Each venue was then ranked in order, to conclude the UK’s best strawberry fields to visit.
