How to stay safe in the water

Water sports are a great, fun way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors during your holiday, but staying safe while in and on the water is incredibly important. Be sure to check the weather forecast before heading out, and try not to go alone. If that's unavoidable, make sure to tell someone where you're going and what time you expect to be back. Keep your phone with you in a waterproof pouch and make sure it's always charged in case of emergencies.

Know your limits and don't take risks while in the water. Be aware of your surroundings, any hazards and strong currents, and be prepared for conditions to change quickly. Never jump directly into water below 15°C, as this can cause cold water shock, which is incredibly dangerous. If you fall into the water unexpectedly, remember Float to Live.
