We've raised over £24,000 for When You Wish Upon A Star
In just seven months since announcing When You Wish Upon A Star as our Charity of the Year, we have raised an astonishing £24,000 - exceeding our target of £20,000. The money raised will go towards granting the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses.
Staff, guests and holiday home owners at our seven leisure parks have worked together to host fundraising activities since June.
At Riverside Leisure Park in Wooler, staff hosted a spooky Halloween raffle with a selection of kindly donated prizes which raised over £120. Riverside’s General Manager, Karen Bishop also took part in Stoptober resulting in £215 for the charity.
October was also a great month for fundraising at Viewfield Manor Leisure Park in Ayrshire. Administration Manager, Liz McIntyre raised an impressive £500 by taking part in ‘Sober for October’.
At Thurston Manor Leisure Park in Dunbar the sales team all took part in ‘Sober for October’ to raise £381. During October Thurston Manor hosted a Halloween raffle and Family UV Glow Party Night raising £324!
In November, Heather View Leisure Park in County Durham welcomed clairvoyant Micky Vermooch to entertain guests, meanwhile raising £280 for When You Wish Upon A Star.
The activities are yet to finish across the parks with lots of festive fundraising happening during December including a Santa Stroll where adults will dress as Santa Claus and children will dress as elves to walk or run around the parks’ picturesque settings.
Jen Hughes, Regional Fundraiser at When You Wish Upon A Star, said: “We are thrilled with the amount raised by Verdant Leisure so far! The money will help fund once in a lifetime experiences including taking 45 families to Winter Wonderland in London. We are sure there will be many happy children thanks to Verdant Leisure’s wonderful efforts.”
