Financial Accountant

Location: Verdant Leisure, Lancaster, Lancashire, LA1 3SW

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (dependent upon experience)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time position of 37.5hrs a week, Monday to Friday

About the Role

As a Financial Accountant reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will be an integral part of our finance team. Ensuring the integrity of financial information, maintaining compliance, and actively contributing to the enhancement of controls and processes. Collaborating closely with the Management Accountant, your role will involve providing vital support to the finance team and offering guidance when necessary.

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage, lead and develop staff in the Finance team
  • Manage and oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Audit preparation and producing statutory accounts
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Cashflow Management
  • Analysis of data to determine trends, risks, opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Working closely with HODs
  • Business Partnering
  • Carrying out any other ad hoc tasks as required


About the Person

We seek a Financial Accountant with a proven track record in a similar role and a robust working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Dynamics. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, confident, and well-organized, demonstrating the capability to interpret data, identify and resolve discrepancies, and consistently meet tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a professional approach are essential for this role.

Key Requirements:

  • Fully or part-qualified accountant, ideally holding ACCA or ACA credentials.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with a preference for experience gained from practice.
  • Proven experience in producing statutory accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 Dynamics.
  • Proficiency in payroll procedures.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Previous team management experience.
